Dictionary.com Legal loss of innocence would indicate he was found guilty of a crime. He would regain innocence if he appealed and was declared innocent. Then he would have regained his/her innocence. Moral innocence may be lost by many ways. Virginity is a prime example of how one looses their innocence. It really cannot be regained. However, they now have surgeries that sews the hymen tissue back, to give the physical appearance of innocence. In the spiritual context of loosing moral innocence it is when one sins against God. If one asks forgiveness with their heart, mind and soul and means it...then God declares them innocent by wiping the slate clean. Mans laws and Gods laws are not equal. God forgives and forgets but man in the physical sence and in the legal system does not.
Innocence is the lack of knowledge/understanding. It is lost when you gain the knowledge/understanding. Once lost, forget it. It's lost forever.
